Media Policies & Registration - Tribal Journeys

Registration is now closed.
These policies are in place to honour the traditions and protocols of Tribal Journeys Paddle to Quw’utsun.

download all the policies and registration information here, and fax your registration form to 250.746-3183.
Please note that during Tribal Journeys, accomodation in the Cowichan Valley will be very limited.
Media Criteria
Applications for accreditation will be reviewed by Tribal Journeys 2008 and successful applicants will be notified by email and provided with further information as it becomes available. All applications are subject to confirmation. Please be advised that registration forms sent without supporting documents and information will not be reviewed or approved. Application criteria:
- Media employed by news organizations attending the Games for the purpose of editorial coverage will be granted media credentials.
- Media are required to submit appropriate media credentials as part of their registration application including a photocopy or scan of official press credentials and a letter of assignment from the media organization being represented. Business cards or membership cards from news media, communications, or writers’ organizations are not sufficient to establish eligibility.
- Independent television production companies are required to provide a letter outlining the confirmed broadcast plans for their work.
- Freelance media are required to submit an official letter of assignment from a news organization or magazine.
- Online media must submit similar documentation verifying the intended use of the content collected from Tribal Journeys 2008.
Media Program – The Landing, July 28
Accredited media are welcome to attend the Landing activities on July 28 at Hecate Park in Cowichan Bay. Program details are posted on this website. More information will be emailed as it comes available. Media will be positioned in a defined area on site to ensure access to the landing and protocol procedures. Media will be required to check in with the on-site Communications Manager upon arrival.
Broadcast Truck Parking
Live broadcast truck parking requires prior authorization by Tribal Journeys 2008. Requests for authorization may be directed to the Communications Manager at 250-746-2008 prior to the event.
Important Security and Conduct Information
For security reasons, only accredited media will be provided access to The Landing Site. Upon registering media agree to follow the protocols outlined by Tribal Journeys and respect the directions of the traditions of Tribal Journeys.
- Specific events, dances and protocols are sacred. Photos and video will NOT be permitted.
- Photo crews will NOT be allowed on the water.
